Gorilla foam

I mixed some dish soap with Gorilla Glue and it made a good rigid foam.

Any chance you can make an additive that will produce similar reliable and consistent results?

Re: Gorilla foam

Hi DA

Gorilla Glue is a moisture activated, foaming and expanding glue.  One drop of glue will expand 3 to 4 times that in volume.  But there isn't any strength in this expanded foam since it will fill areas cosmetically but not structurally.  Gorilla Glue needs to glue two tight fitting surfaces together so when the glue expands, it is forced into the pores of the materials being glued together.  This is what makes the bond so strong.

Re: Gorilla foam

MEM,

the soap foam seems to be working well.  I used it to fill missing wood in a rotted piece of framing in a boat and the foam is harder than the remining wood.

the rotted section went through the piece, spliting it in two.  the foam is holding those pieces very well.

to finish the repair I'm going to cover it with fiberglass.  the soap foam is harder than the 2 part foam I used elswhere so it should perform better too.

It would be nice if Gorilla could provide a 2nd component that would produce consistent results.  Using dish soap, I get consistent results only so long as I use the same brand.  Someone else using a different brand may get results much different from mine.
